Miner had been involved in horror films for a long time by that point, having been a PA and assistant editor all the way back on 1972's classic The Last House On The Left and directing the second and third Friday The 13ths. The movie had a very successful debut, coming in only behind Pretty In Pink in its first week, and would go on to have a successful theater run both in the States
