They formed in 1988 and released two 7"s before breaking up, 1988's True Till Death released on Revelation Records and 1990's What Holds Us Apart on Foundation Records. Chain played a style of hardcore that was influenced by early Dischord bands but they did so with a Southern California aesthetic: bleached hair and beach bods and Bold shirts. Chain had some controversy throughout
