A silvered bronze cross, with wider ends, the obverse centre presents a black enamelled medallion featuring an armoured hand with sword and the letter E for Eesti (Estonia), the reverse centre presents the date of foundation 24 II 1919 over a black enamelled field, measuring 30. 6mm (w) x 39. 7mm (h inclusive of integral ring), weighs 14. 4 grams, on loop for suspension from period original
