Benjamin Leroux Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Hauts Jarrons 2023 douloufakis Jaeger-Defaix's newest red (Pinot Noir)This comes from a steep, north facing vineyard on the north side of the A6 motorway. It is a very dry site that can sometimes suffer in dry years, but there was just enough water at the right time in 2023. Well structured if not quite as complex as the Vergelesses, this has a very engaging perfume; there is almost a whiff of New Zealand Pinot Noir about it. It was aged entirely in 228 litre barrels (up to five years old).
