Russia, Imperial. An Order Of St. George In Gold, Miniature, C.1850 Hold with the body of the( . ). Instituted in 1769. In Gold with white enamels, weighing 1. 8 grams, hand painted obverse centrepiece illustrating St. George slaying the dragon, measuring 15 mm (w) x 17. 3 mm (h) inclusive of its integral ring, intact enamels, extremely fine. Footnote: The Order of St. George was instituted on November 26, 1769 and awarded for meritorious military services or bravery in combat, in four grades: 1st Class, 2nd Class, 3rd Class and 4th Class.
