Constructed of bronzed magnetic metal, the obverse consisting of a shield bearing a raised map of Crimea and southern Ukraine, topped by a Wehrmacht eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, flanked by dates 1941 1942, affixed with all four reverse attachment prongs to a magnetic metal backplate with a field grey wool liner (indicating Heer issue) and replacement black paper backer, unmarked but demonstrating the characteristics
