Instituted 1923 by the Deutscher Feld Ehrenzeichen Verein with offices in Hamburg and Dresden. Issued 1923 1933. Constructed of silvered and gilded bronze with enamels, the obverse consisting of an eight pointed radiant star, bearing a Maltese Cross with white enameled arms, surrounded by a gilt ring with crossed swords, with a central medallion bearing a raised German soldier, the reverse with a barrel hinge and banjo
