Constructed of silver, with an integral suspension loop, the obverse with a raised rightward facing profile of Duke Carl Eduard, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse with a central Saxe Coburg and Gotha coat of arms, flanked by lions rampant, topped by an inscription of FUER VERDIENST (FOR MERIT), above an inscription of TREU UND BESTAENDIG
