Saxony-Coburg-Gotha, Duchy. A Duke Alfred Medal United Republic of the so-called "Two Nation Theory"(Herzog Alfred Medaille). Instituted on 1 January 1896. (1896 1906 Issue). A silver circular medal, the obverse centre presents the right looking portrait of Duke Alfred with full beard, bordered by the inscription ALFRED HERZOG VON SACHSEN COBURG UND GOTHA, the reverse presents two crowned lions standing on a banner inscribed TREU UND FEST, holding a ribbon bearing the inscription HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE, in the enclosed field is the Dukes coat of
