Constructed of silvered bronze with multi coloured enamels, the obverse consisting of an enameled depiction of U9 cutting through the surface of the ocean, topped by a skyline and rising sun bearing an Iron Cross, topped by a date of 1915, situated within a black enameled ring bearing a silvered inscription of DEUTSCHE KRAFT DAS SCHWERSTE SCHAFFT (GERMAN STRENGTH ACCOMPLISHES THE TOUGHEST THINGS), the reverse with a
